Random Ramblings; books, music, films, other stuff…
So, very very very late last night (or technically early this morning), I finished the first half of Season 5 of Breaking Bad. We’ve a week to wait for new episodes so here are the questions I want answering in the last 8 episodes. *Contains Season 5 spoilers*
Why the hell do the cartel crawl?
What is the significance of this? What’s wrong with, you know, the common convention of walking?
Will Jesse find out about Walt poisoning Brock?
You would think that the way this information has been dripped through to us that the answer to be is yes. What will the consequences be? I dread to think…
Just remembered about Jane (?) too. He doesn’t know about that either…yet.
Does Brock know that it was Walt that poisoned him?
There was a very strange sofa scene in Season 5. Most awkward. Kid just shy or does he know?
What’s with the colours?
From the names; Walter White, Jesse Pinkman to the clothes; Hank’s orange shirts, Jesse’s red & black and perhaps more interestingly, Marie’s sudden appearance in bright yellow rather than her usual purple in the Part 1 finale. Oh and the blue meth, that’s kind of central too 😉
Why is Walt dumb enough…
…to leave that book in the bathroom. I mean, really? He’s been so careful would he really oversee something like that?
Where’s the bear/ eye?
The eye came from the teddy bear in the plane crash and both kept reappearing in earlier seasons. Unless I’m mistaken neither was seen in the first part of Season 5? Where did it go? What did it symbolise?
Who’s Walt intending on using the machine gun on?
So the opening scene is a year from the rest of the Season, which we can tell from the bacon. Walt’s using an assumed identity, sporting an unshaven look (pretty clear why from the Part 1 cliffhanger) and…buying a machine gun. Why? Who’s he after? What sacrifices is he willing to make to protect himself? Aghhhh!
Will Jesse use his gun on Walt?
He came close when Walt came to the house & the lingering shot on the gun sliding across the floor suggest this is not a closed storyline.
Will the ricin get used?
And on whom? Why has Walt kept it?
Will Walt survive?
And if not, what will take his life; the violent drug world or the cancer that the flash forward would suggest is back when he’s on the run?
Who the hell is Todd?
Seems to have got very central to the story, very quickly. I don’t trust him. Would he be loyal to Walt if push came to shove? And why keep the spider in the jar? Weird.
I love Breaking Bad for many reasons (the cinematography is itself a work of art) but one of the main reasons is that it’s not Lost. You get the feeling everything’s happening for a reason. And with the attention to detail given to the show you’d expect that we’ll get most, if not all, of the answers in 8 weeks time.
